Game time, TV network announced for WKU Football’s opener at Alabama

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The 2024 WKU Football Alabama season opener kicks off on Saturday, August 31 at 6:00 PM CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

The Hilltoppers are all-time 0-3 against Alabama, with the last meeting coming in the 2016 season – a 38-10 Crimson Tide win. WKU won the Conference USA Championship that fall. The Tide went 12-2 last season, claimed the SEC championship and earned a berth in the College Football Playoff.

WKU will follow the Alabama game by welcoming Eastern Kentucky to Houchens-Smith Stadium for the home opener on September 7 before opening CUSA play at Middle Tennessee on September 14. WKU will next host Toledo on September 21 before wrapping up the non-conference. play at Boston College on September 28. WKU opens its midweek games at home against UTEP on Oct. 10, heads to Sam Houston for a game on Oct. 16 and welcomes CUSA newcomer Kennesaw State on Oct. 30 in Bowling Green. The Hilltoppers will also have CUSA matchups at New Mexico State on Nov. 9, at home against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 16, at Liberty on Nov. 23 and at home against Jax State on Nov. 30. Game times and TV networks for those games will be released at a later date. CUSA’s 20th annual championship game, featuring the top two finishers in conference play, will be played Friday, Dec. 6 on CBS Sports Network. The start time for the title game will be announced at a later date.

WKU capped an 8-5 season in 2023 with a 38-35 overtime win against Old Dominion in the Famous Toastery Bowl. The game was one of eight nationally televised games the Hilltoppers played last season, including one of two on ESPN. The 2024 opener at Alabama marks the seventh straight season the program has broadcast a game on ESPN.
