Southern California beats Gonzaga 15-3 in first-ever trip to Spokane


SPOKANE, ablution – After an eight-day hiatus, Gonzaga baseball welcomed Southern California for their final midweek game of the 2024 season. The game marked the first meeting between the two teams since 1989 and the first ever in Spokane as the Trojans earned the 15-3 victory .

USC (25-27) improves to 10-2 all-time against Gonzaga (19-27) with Tuesday’s win.

After giving up a run in the top of the first inning, the Zags responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2–1 lead. Tommy Eisenstat gilded Hudson Shupe before a double steal set up the second run of the frame.

USC responded in the top of the second inning with three to take a 4–2 lead, before adding one in the fifth inning and seven in the sixth inning to open an uncatchable 12–2 lead. In total, USC’s 15 runs came on 17 hits, while Gonzaga’s three runs came on eight hits.

Shupe and Eisenstat each recorded multi-hit performances for the Zags. Vincent Temesvary also extended his on-base streak to 14 games in the loss.


Gonzaga will play their final three games of the regular season at home against Pepperdine this weekend. On Saturday, GU will recognize five seniors during a first pitch at 1 p.m. in the series finale.
