One of The Beatles is coming to Grand Junction.

Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band will perform at the Amphitheater in Las Colonias Park on September 10 at 7:30 PM.

Ticket presales begin today at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com — presale code: PEACE.

Ticket sales are likely to go quickly and for this concert no tickets will be held back from the public sale, which starts at 10am on Friday.

While the announcement about Starr’s Grand Junction show appeared on the amphitheater’s social media sites Tuesday morning, Maria Rainsdon has been keeping tabs on the show’s confirmation that it will be closing for three months.

Reading a “knew it” comment on Facebook after what was supposed to be a big announcement “is a total turnoff,” said Rainsdon, general manager of the amphitheater, which is operated by OVG360.

Luckily this was a surprise.

“We’ll have a Beatle in Grand Junction. It’s pretty amazing,” she said. “We expect a sold-out crowd.”

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band is considered a “supergroup,” meaning all the musicians are famous in their own right, she said.

His All Starr Band consists of Steve Lukather (Toto), Edgar Winter (The Edgar Winter Group), Colin Hay (Men at Work), Warren Ham (Toto, Kansas), Hamish Stuart (Average White Band) and Gregg Bissonette (The David Lee). Rothband).

And then there’s Ringo Starr, 83. He has 20 solo studio albums, the first two of which were released in 1970, the same year The Beatles broke up. His latest EP, ‘Crooked Boy’, was released in limited edition on Record Store Day, April 20.

Starr has won nine Grammy Awards, been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a Beatle and solo artist, has appeared in more than fifteen films, won an Academy Award and written three books.

Starr, the Beatles’ drummer, is one of the two surviving members of the legendary British band, along with Paul McCartney. The two other members are deceased: John Lennon was murdered outside his New York apartment in 1980 and George Harrison died in 2001.

Starr was not an original member of the Fab Four. He joined the group on August 14, 1962 after Lennon invited him to join the Beatles.

The Beatles’ first drummer, Pete Best, was fired to make way for Starr to join the group.

The Beatles remain the best-selling music group of all time.

The announcement that Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band were coming to the amphitheater was big, but it won’t be the last of the season, Rainsdon said.

Ticket presale ends Thursday at 10 p.m. People who want to purchase a ticket in person can do so at the Avalon Theater box office, which is open Thursday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.
