Richard “Rick” DeWald, 89, of Providence Forge, Virginia, passed away on May 8, 2024 after a brief illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 23, 1934.

Rick spent his early years in Chicago, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. He served in the army during the Korean War as part of a tank division stationed in Munich. After graduating from William & Mary College, he built a successful career as a manager and executive at IBM. He was an avid golfer and sports fan and lived in Ridgefield, Connecticut for 29 years. After retiring, he moved to the Kilmarnock, Virginia area, eventually settling in Providence Forge in 2019.

Charlotte Budding, his devoted partner, survives him. He was predeceased by Sandra (Sandy) Pheris DeWald, his loving wife of 50 years.

He is survived by his three daughters, Carey Jeffrey and husband Russ, Cris Walsh and husband Brendan and Cyndy Moyer and husband Mark; and a son, Richard DeWald Jr. and wife Amy. He was the proud grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service is planned.
